Random weird question

Someone asked my cindian friend; 

"Are you a Muslim?"

And we are like Haaaa? 

She obviously said few minutes before that "My dad is an Indian and my mom is chinese."

Weird. 

Kenapa tak tanya je "Liyana, are you a Muslim?"
